HOUSE RESOLUTION 35

"In memory of Kenneth Wilson Metz of Jefferson County, West Virginia, legislator and distinguished citizen."
WHEREAS, Kenneth Wilson Metz was a native of West Virginia, born in Mannington, West Virginia, on July 13, 1919, to Thomas and Rebecca Metz; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Metz attended West Virginia public schools, graduating from Mannington High School, and graduated from the West Virginia University School of Law, Class of 1951; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Wilson Metz served in the United States Army during World War II and during the Korean Conflict, retiring with the rank of Major. He served as Mental Health Officer for Jefferson County, served on the Selective Service Board of Jefferson County, and was a member of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the West Virginia University Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Wilson Metz served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1961 to 1963, representing the people of Jefferson County, West Virginia, where his greatest emphasis was on education for all West Virginians; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Metz was the beloved husband of Marie Y. Metz, cherished father of Kendra Marie Metz and Frances Ann Metz Kief, and adored grandfather of Rebecca M. Herman, Elizabeth K. Reynolds, Kenneth S. Shipe and Kristen Ann Kief; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Metz was an outstanding member of the community of Charles Town, County of Jefferson and State of West Virginia, and a loving husband, father and grandfather; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That this body does hereby mourns the passing of Kenneth Wilson Metz on October 6, 1997, and send sincere condolences to his children and grandchildren. All should remember the good works of Kenneth Wilson Metz that were done for the people of West Virginia and the hard work and dedication that this individual exemplified for his native state. May it always be remembered that Kenneth Wilson Metz loved the State of West Virginia and was always proud to be a West Virginian; and, be it
Further Resolved That the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward copies of this resolution to the family of Kenneth Wilson Metz.
